Striking Whakatu blue Jade Roimata, harvested from whanau land in the Nelson/Marlborough area. Being 3.7cm long these are light-weight making these statement earring an easy wear and would compliment any colour and attire.
The jade is found in the Nelson/Marlborough rohe (area) and is a very rare and sort after variety having a tight matrix which conforms to the artists wishes of design and form without disintegration or chipping a pleasure to carve. Roimata in Maori translates to tears. When carved in Pounamu (in this case Jade), the tear drop shape of the stone embodies the idea of healing and resilience, reminding us of the strength within our tears.
